No hail here, and that matters
Taney County is not among the counties the April 28, 2026 supercell crossed, and there is no Branson hail report in the NWS record for that date. So the honest position is that the storm which dominates every other page on this site is not your problem. What Branson has is a different set of roofing problems, and they are more interesting.
Steep, wooded, and built on a hill
Branson building sits on Ozark hillsides under mature tree cover, and both facts drive everything.
- Pitch and access. A lot of these roofs are steep, multi-level and hard to stage, often with a walkout basement meaning one elevation is three storeys. That is staging, fall protection and slower work, and it is a genuine 25 to 40 percent on labour. Anyone quoting a Branson hillside roof at flat-lot prices has not seen it.
- Debris. Heavy tree cover means valleys and behind-chimney areas pack with leaves and needles, and a wet debris dam holds water against shingles all winter. Under oaks and pines, gutters and valleys need clearing three times a year, not two.
- Moss and algae on north slopes. Shaded, damp, and it holds moisture against the shingle. Algae streaking is cosmetic; moss is not, because it lifts shingle edges. Never pressure wash it off, that strips the granules.
- Limb damage. Overhanging branches abrade shingles in every wind, and a dropped limb is the most common single-event roof damage in this area by a distance.
Cabins, rentals and the revenue problem
A leaking roof on a short-term rental is not just a repair bill, it is cancelled bookings and a review that stays up for two years. Which means the calculation on maintenance is completely different from an owner-occupied house: an annual inspection and a written report per property is cheap insurance against a peak-season failure. On a portfolio we schedule the whole set in shoulder season, so nothing is happening while your units are full.
The other side of the rental market is that a lot of the cabin stock was built quickly and to a price, and the details show it: cut-up field shingle used as starter strip, missing drip edge, inadequate or absent ventilation, and roof-to-wall transitions on multi-level builds with no kick-out flashing. That last one is the leak we find most often on Branson properties.
Commercial and resort work
The strip along MO-76 and the resort and attraction properties run to large low-slope membrane and metal, and the scheduling constraint is the season rather than the weather. Tear-off over an operating restaurant or theatre gets phased and timed around trading, and on occupied buildings the odour and noise questions around torch-applied and solvent-based products are real. There are alternatives and we will raise them before you have to ask.
The distance, honestly
Branson is about forty-five minutes south of the shop on US-65. We come down, and we will be straight with you about it: for a replacement, a commercial job or a set of rental properties it makes no difference and there is no surcharge. For a single small repair, the drive is a large share of the job, so bundle it with anything else you need or we will tell you if somebody closer makes better sense for you.

Branson roofing questions
Did Branson get any of the April hail?
No. Taney County is not among the counties the storm crossed and there is no NWS hail report for Branson on that date. If someone is at your door citing it, that is your answer.
Why do steep hillside roofs cost more?
Staging, fall protection and roughly half the productivity. A walkout-basement hillside build can be three storeys on one elevation, which changes how everything gets set up and how material gets moved. It is real cost, not a markup.
Can you work around our rental bookings?
Yes, and it is the normal way we schedule Branson work. Shoulder season for planned jobs, and phased so a property is out of service for the shortest possible window. Tell us your calendar and we will work to it.
What causes most leaks on cabins around here?
Roof-to-wall transitions on multi-level builds with no kick-out flashing, followed by debris dams in valleys under heavy tree cover. Both are fixable and both are usually cheaper than people expect.
